There are a number of computers across campus that have accessible software that make navigating websites and using library resources easier for users with disabilities.

Where are they?
There is one accessible computer station at Steelcase library in the back row of the lab and five accessible stations in the Mary Idema Pew Library (one each in Lab 001, the atrium, and floors 2-4). Many of them have scanners next to them. You can access a complete list of accessible stations across campus here: https://www.gvsu.edu/dsr/accessible-computer-labs-68.htm

What do they do?
The software on these stations have a number of uses including screen readers that scan webpages or documents and read the text verbally to users, screen magnifiers to make text easier to read, software that highlights text to make it easier to read for users with learning disabilities, and alternative mice and keyboards that might be easier for some users to interact with than traditional mice and keyboards. Many of them also have scanners so users can scan physical books or documents to use with screen readers, and some have adjustable height tables. You can see a complete list of software and an overview of their uses here: https://www.gvsu.edu/dsr/at-software-manuals-4.htm

Who should we contact if users have questions?
GVSU students who have disclosed a disability to Disability Support Resources (DSR) will have received training and information about these stations and may be able to use them with no assistance. If someone does ask for assistance beyond what we are able to offer, we can refer them to DSR by phone: 616-331-2490, by email: dsrgvsu@gvsu.edu, or at their location 4015 Zumberge Hall.

What else is good to know?
There is a browser extension for Chrome called Read Along that can be accessed for free through the Google Aps store if users want to use accessible technology on their own computers. There are similar apps for phones.
