University Libraries will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items. All users are encouraged to monitor personal belongings when visiting the library. It is advised that you limit the number of valuable items brought to our facilities, to minimize the threat of loss.

If lost items are found in or around our facilities, please bring them to staff at the service desk immediately. University Libraries will attempt to contact the property's owner whenever possible.

Service desk locations:

  • Allendale:
    • On the first floor of the Mary Idema Pew Library
    • On the main floor of Seidman House, inside the Reading Room of Special Collections & University Archives
  • Pew Campus: On the first floor of DeVos building A, just inside the Steelcase Library
  • Health Campus: On the second floor of DeVos Center for Interprofessional Health, inside the Frey Foundation Learning Commons

High-value items, such as passports, major electronics, and cash over $100, are handed off to the Department of Public Safety soon after we receive them.

University IDs are turned in to the Registrar's office/Student Assistance Center.

Other items are logged into the university-wide database and stored at the location they are received at. Items that go unclaimed for an extended period are given to the Surplus Store.
